In this blog post, we will discuss some maintenance tips for Yamaha Propellers.
- Inspect your Yamaha Propellers regularly – It is important that you inspect your lower unit now and then. Remove the prop and apply marine grease to the Yamaha propeller shaft. Remove the lower drain plug and check the color of the lubricant, if it's white then water presence is there in your gearcase. Disassemble your propeller’s lower unit and replace the seal before using your outboard again.
- Change the gear lube of your Yamaha Propellers – It is easy to change the lubricant yourself. It is ideal if you rely on a dealer. Make sure you also replace the vent and drain screw seals each time.
- The battery in your Yamaha Propellers – Make sure to use the recommended size of the battery. Don’t compromise with the battery. Apart from that, consider adding one or two house batteries to power accessories.
- Use fogging oil in your Yamaha Propellers – Use fogging oil as it protects internal components of an engine that are vital during inactive. It prevents rust and corrosion and also protects them during start-up when the outboard is returned to service.
- Keep your Yamaha Propellers Dry – Make sure to keep your Yamaha Propellers dry as water can enter in the fuel system during extended storage periods. With that, make sure to lower the engine fully and place a sealed plastic bag over the lower unit to help prevent moisture.
